Llamas and Sheep, Oh My! September 4, 2007

With the kids in my neighborhood heading back to school today, last week was the official end of the E-Z Coffee fundraising stand. You might recall that I wrote about my neighbor Zach last year – a remarkable, energetic and inspiring lad who started a corner coffee bar to raise money for good causes. (c’mon, really, how many kids do you know who will run a summer business that opens at 7 a.m.? I can tell you for a fact that Zach never saw me there before 8:30. )

This year, the money raised is going to Heifer International.

Zach managed to raise enough money to donate a llama, a goat and a water buffalo. How’s that for making one feel good about the next generation? And that’s not all. Check out Zach’s website and organization, Youth for Change International. Wow. Just, wow.
Closer to home, and I mean REALLY close to home – I found this creature on my front doorstep this morning – bleating for shelter. No note. No suitcase. Just one google-eyed sheep, motionless in the morning sun.

welcome?

That is amazing! If my DD were to do such thing, the earliest it could possibly open would be about 11 a.m. However, she does get up very early for band every school day of the year. What a guy your Zach is!
Your neighbor Zach, I meant of course.
Wow! Zach is pretty darn impressive. The google eyed sheep it too cute!
It’s young people like Zach who give me hope for us yet. Thanks for letting us know about him.
Thanks allot Anne and everyone!!!
You guys just made my day (well I guess night now). Anyway, Thanks a bunch for all your inspirational comments.
Check out the E-Z Website at http://www.ezcoffee.webs.com
Thanks Much,
Zach
You took the words right out of my mouth: “wow, just, wow”
Way to go Zach!
I know I will be voting for Zach someday. And in the meantime, I hope he gets another like-minded friend to open an EZ franchise on the south side!
