Was it the moment I saw the silk scarves? The stenciled paper? The cotton and hemp yarns? I tried to avoid the sway of a new pathway. I walked into that Madrona marketplace THREE times before I got any further than the Kakishibu Booth run by the lovely Chris Conrad. This morning, I simply caved.
Be patient, gentle readers and fiberholics. Soon, we shall discover together the mysteries of persimmons, tannin molecules, katazome, shibori and bengara. I promise.
But, after the wee marketplace shopping spree, (where my wayward Japanese-themed ways continued with a Habu purchase, a book on Shibori dying techniques and some silky cotton/rayon yarn) there was glass to explore at the Tacoma Museum of Glass.

Sweet. Tomorrow? Home, with an eye on the weather as another major storm hits the midwest.

Those colors are all fantastic, but the all-blue one at the top captured my heart. I live on an island, and those blues . . . well . . . when the boat for the mainland pushes back from the dock, this is what you see — a background of dark blue ocean (maybe layered with medium and light blues out toward the horizon) and the area around the boat churned up to aqua with bits of white foam.
I like the blues, too, though the many reds with a blue streak through are tantalizing also.
What amazing colors. Pictures 1 and 2 are my favorites.
