One of the more amusing, and sometimes disturbing bits of information available to bloggers, are the terms people type into search engines before arriving at your site. I have to laugh, for instance, when I see that someone was looking for “dishwasher parts” and landed here. And, I really wonder what the person searching for “sister tights” thought they were going to find.
Then, there are the scarier search terms of a devious, sexual nature that I’m not going to repeat. Believe me, they are nothing as innocent as BlueGal‘s quest to be number one in a google for “panties.”
So, imagine how perplexed I was to see a rather large number of visitors who were searching for “Claude Allen evil twin” or some near approximation, over the past couple of days.
You all know the pathetic story of Claude Allen, don’t you? Here’s a quick summary from the story that broke over the past weekend:
What Allen knew and apparently didn’t tell others at the White House is that he could be in legal trouble. Police say Allen was caught trying to get refunds on items he hadn’t bought at a Target store in the Washington’s Maryland suburbs, just 30 days before the State of the Union address he was helping to craft.
White House officials say they didn’t know the truth about the allegations until last week, after Allen, 45, had resigned from his $161,000-a-year job as Bush’s domestic policy adviser. The felony charges have shocked those who knew Allen and considered him completely devoted to God, family and country.
Oh yeah. Devoted to God, family and country. Just not the local Target store, it would seem.
The story gets a boost of silliness, however, because it seems that Claude has an identical brother, Floyd. No. Really. And you see, Floyd was the one always getting into trouble and acting all bad-ass and disrespecting of authority and well, come on, his name was Floyd and naturally he’d be the evil twin just trying to mess up his successful brother, Claude.
Now, what forces do you suppose are giving “legs” to this preposterous version of events? Leave your thoughts in ‘comments’ and go read more about the ‘evil twin’ theory.
