before I leave on vacation next week . . .
You can read the whole story here on Media Matters if you wish, but this pullout quote should do it for you:
During the April 11 broadcast of his daily BreakPoint radio commentary, convicted Watergate felon and Prison Fellowship Ministries founder Charles W. Colson claimed that legalized abortion created a labor shortage, forcing the United States to solicit undocumented workers from other countries to fill jobs that might have otherwise been occupied by the "40 million sacrificed since 1973," when the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion.
So, if we take Colson's logic and bring it into the future, does that mean that the current anti-abortion movement is all about ensuring that we have plenty of soldiers to fight the wars the Bush administration is leading us into? Really. Just think how many more recruits the military might have at their disposal right now if it weren't for that pesky Roe v. Wade decision.
Or, maybe the "anti's" motivations are as simple as the billboard I saw last summer, and what they really want are more people paying into Social Security.
As for Colson, isn't it gratifying to witness a human form finally grow into its flaccid brain? Go on. Now you HAVE TO jump over to Media Matters for a look.
Thanks for the tip, BlueGal.
