Commandos in History

More . . . from guest blogger, Kris

Who decided panties were required wearing, anyway? According to research compiled in MUM, the online MUseum of Menstruation, women throughout most of history didn’t wear ’em. At all.

At the website, find everything from a naughty engraving of a peeping Tom spying on a lady peeing, her skirt hiked, but no telltale underwear around her ankles; to old ads for menstrual and other feminine products; to a bibliography of the documentary history of a still-taboo subject.

What visionary feminist founded the museum? A fascinating guy (as in, man) named Harry Finley. Why? In his own words, “I find the subject interesting. … I had the nerve to create it. … And I also like women.”

All right!
