I realize not everyone is into watching a pair of birds take turns sitting on eggs in a nest – hour after hour, day upon day – or cares much about watching raindrops bead-up on their glossy black feathers, or gives a good goddamn whether the female is looking a bit ragged and tired and wonders why the samhill that gad-about male eagle can't get back to the nest to relieve her on a more frequent basis. Am I the only one who's noticed how the female always has to straighten up the mess he makes of the twigs and sticks during his egg-sitting stints?
You know when those eggs hatch, it's going to be the female who gets stuck doing all the hunting AND the regurgitating. How typical is that?
The first egg is due to hatch tomorrow, April 26, and you can watch the drama unfold and even join in a discussion forum at this excellent site.
