In recognition of hateful spewing, intolerance in the name of right-minded fairness and uninhibited, arrogant gall – this week's Vomit of Goblins award goes to . . .
Ann Coulter, for this description of women whose husbands died on 9/11:
"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband’s death so much."
Oh, sure. Coulter's remarks can be dismissed as an attempt to whip up media attention for herself and her new book. With Coulter, it's genuinely hard to know if she's serious (and therefore mentally unstable) or a desperate self-promoter who revels in crossing the boundaries of civil discourse. In either case, I'd hate to be her therapist. But being pathetic and desperate doesn't get her off the hook for this Vomit of Goblins stunt.
And, if you think the choice of Coulter was an easy one for this week's award, you just weren't paying attention. Rush Limbaugh was in the running for his "gang rape" comments, and Michelle Malkin gave us a lesson on hatred as a manifestation of self-loathing with her "anchor baby" criticism of immigrants to this country. Some precious pickings here.
