some of what I’m hoping arrives in Tacoma
Some of you may remember the last minute preparations for last year’s Madrona Fiber Arts gathering, in which I failed to
decide on which yarns to bring, and in a desperate move, shoved fully one-third of my stash into a space bag, sucked all the air out of it until it resembled a hard, square cube, and bullied it into my duffel bag
figured that the night before leaving would be a good time to disassemble my dishwasher and try to replace a few key parts
started drinking champagne while simultaneously repairing my dishwasher and packing for the trip to Tacoma
NOT THIS YEAR!
This year I started organizing and packing my supplies more than two weeks before departure. Apron, gloves, colored pencils, fabric scraps, old photographs . . . everything was checked off the class supply list with military precision. check, check, check.
All well and good, except that I am in Tacoma and my well-packed luggage is not.
But, akabini, my most excellent roommate, is here. And the incomparable BlueGal is (supposedly) on her way – although judging by a certain enroute phone call, she may be having too much fun on her Vegas stopover hanging with all those gals in stretch pants and rhinestones and Hello! Kitty cellphones. We’ll no doubt get the full story later this evening.
And, yes, there was a bit of purchasing done at the marketplace, but it falls under the category of necessary stockpiling. You see, not one single local yarn shop of mine carries Muench Touch Me yarns, and the Acorn Shop had just THE most incredible selection of colors and this display simply put me over the edge:
No need to dwell on lost luggage or squirrel jihad fantasies. I’m on VACATION in case you couldn’t tell.
now, THAT’S a great roommate!
