Yesterday’s Supreme Court rulings have left a stench on the majority robes of the Roberts court. It may take generations to reclaim a form of governance that remotely resembles the promise of our freshly gutted Constitution that now seems to guarantee rights only to those with sufficient funds to purchase political candidates, offices and access to the courts.
What’s to be done? Can one sit around feeling sick at heart forever?
Here is what I am resolved to do.
- Follow the money. (For instance, looking for office supplies? Did you know that Staples, Inc., gave 100% of its PAC money to Dems in the last election cycle?)
- Write more letters to legislators. Not form letters. Personal letters.
- Blog. Because I believe in the power of the written word.
- Continue to document the human, personal cost of this administration’s deceit and utter disregard for its citizenry.
I will do these things with my head, my heart, my fingers, my checkbook and my anger. It’s only patriotic.
