National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost upon us, and that signals the start of a corporate mass marketing effort to get us to purchase anything and everything with the ubiquitous pink breast cancer awareness ribbon attached to it.
Time to remind everyone of the “Think Before You Pink” campaign and the important work of the Breast Cancer Action organization. See that emblem in the box to your right? You might be surprised to learn that cause-related marketing is more about profits for the company and less about support for the cause, whatever that cause might be.
Then again, if you’re half as jaded and suspicious of marketing ploys as I am, you won’t be surprised at all.
